Oct 15th | 12-4pm: (In)Visible Project at Girls Think Tank’s Community Picnic in the Park

We hope you can join us at the Girls Think Tank Community Picnic in the Park on Saturday October 15, from 12-4pm in Balboa Park. We’re excited to be having our second showing of the project, and will be testing out the installation in a scaled-down version of the full set-up.

The Girls Think Tank is a local advocacy organization whose mission is to “inspire, empower, and organize our community to advance basic human dignity.” This year’s picnic marks their 5th anniversary, and there will be live music, guest speakers (including Councilmember Marti Emerald, Congressman Bob Filner, and David “the Waterman” Ross,) children’s activities, a voter registration booth, and info booths from other non-profit collaborators (Regional Task Force for the Homeless, Third Avenue Charitable Organization, and others.)

And the best part of it all is that lunch tickets provide a meal not only for yourself, but for someone experiencing homelessness.

For more info or to purchase tickets, please visit the Girls Think Tank website.

Follow-up: ART SAN DIEGO Contemporary Art Fair, Sept 1-4, 2011

Thanks to everyone who came out to the (In)Visible Project’s first installation at the ART SAN DIEGO Contemporary Art Fair this past weekend! Thanks to everyone at the Art Fair, and especially to Susan Myrland and Ann Berchtold for including us as an Art Lab and for supporting our project. This first event was very successful, and we’re now looking forward to moving the project to schools, parks, and other public spaces around the city.

In the meantime, here are some reviews and stories about the project in the local media:

– Sam Hodgson’s interview for his Voice of San Diego photo blog, Credentialed.
– Angela Carone’s KPBS radio story about two of the Art Labs.
KPBS San Diego Week TV spot about the project (starts at 17:09).
– Jim Chute’s San Diego Union-Tribune review.
